What Is The Trade Post?

The trade post is a shared table for your community. Viewers you invite can leave a spare card on it, and anyone else you have invited can take one they are missing. Nobody has to be online at the same time, and nobody has to accept anything. Somebody leaves a card, somebody else takes it.

Here is a worked example. Two of your viewers collect your cards. Bex has pulled the same card twice and has no use for the second one. Sam has never pulled it. Bex puts her spare on the trade post one evening, Sam opens his collection the next morning, presses Take it, and the card is in his collection. Bex never has to be there.

The Most Important Thing To Know

Cards are left and taken on your viewers’ own collection pages, not on your dashboard.

Your dashboard is where you open the post and choose who can use it. It shows you what is currently on the table so you can take something down if you need to, but there is no way to claim a card from there. That is done by your viewers, on their own pages.

This trips almost everybody up the first time, so it is worth saying out loud in your chat or your Discord when you turn the feature on.

Setting Up Your Trade Post

1. Go to the Collectibles page in your dashboard and open the Trading tab.
2. Turn on Open the trade post. While this is off, nobody can leave or take anything and your viewers cannot see the post at all.
3. Add the viewers you want to let use it, one at a time, by their Twitch username.

Only people on that list can use the post. An open post with nobody on the list does nothing at all.

Add everybody, not just the giver

Both sides need to be on the list. If you add Bex so she can leave a card, but you never add Sam, then Sam will not see the trade post on his page and will not be able to take anything. If you want your whole regular crowd trading with each other, add all of them.

Twitch usernames only for now

The list is Twitch usernames only at the moment, because Kick and YouTube do not offer a way for us to look a viewer up by name. Viewers who only use Kick or YouTube cannot be added to a trade post yet.

How Your Viewers Use It

Send your viewers to https://streamchatai.com/collection/login and have them sign in with the same Twitch account they chat with. That takes them to their own collection page, where everything happens.

Leaving A Spare Card

Any card they have two or more of shows a small swap icon. Pressing it puts one copy on your trade post.

That copy leaves their collection straight away and sits on the table until somebody takes it. If they change their mind, the card appears in the trade post section on their own page with a Take back button, and pressing that returns it to them.

A card can only go on the trade post of the streamer whose set it came from. Your cards stay inside your community, and another streamer’s cards cannot end up on your table.

Taking A Card

Underneath their own cards, they will see a section headed your name’s trade post. Everything currently up for grabs is in there, and each card has a Take it button.

Pressing it adds the card to their collection immediately. There is nothing to confirm and nothing for the person who left it to approve. If two people press it at the same moment, only the first one gets it and the other is told the card has gone.

Keeping An Eye On It

The On the table section of your Trading tab shows every card currently up for grabs, along with who left it. If something needs to come down, press Take down and the card goes straight back to whoever left it.

Removing a viewer from the list does the same thing. Anything they had on the table is returned to them.

Closing the post stops anybody leaving or taking cards, but it does not clear the table. Whatever is on there stays until you open the post again.

Why Is Nothing Happening?

If a viewer says the trade post is not working for them, run through these:

• Is the post switched on? Check the toggle at the top of the Trading tab.
• Is that viewer on the list? Everybody who wants to take a card needs to be added, not just the person leaving one.
• Have they signed in at https://streamchatai.com/collection/login? The trade post only appears on their own collection page once they are signed in.
• Are they signed in with Twitch? A viewer who signs in with Kick or YouTube will not match a trade post list, because the list is Twitch only.
• Are they looking far enough down the page? The trade post sits below their own cards, so on a large collection they will need to scroll.
• Do they have a spare to leave? A card needs to be owned twice over before it can go on the table.
